Making a call

All you do is open your browser, punch in a number, and hit call. Here’s exactly what happens on your screen.

Step 01

Open your browser & go to poptox.com

Any modern browser works — Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge. Type poptox.com in the address bar and hit enter. That’s it, you’re on the dialpad.

Enter the number & hit “Call now”

Pick the country from the dropdown, type the destination number on the dialpad, and click the pink Call button. Your browser will ask permission to use your microphone the first time — just click Allow.

Watch the status above the button

Right above the Call button, PopTox tells you exactly what’s happening — Calling as we place the call, Ringing when it reaches the other end, and Answered the moment they pick up. If the line’s busy or nobody’s home, you’ll see that too.

Behind the scenes

How your voice travels around the world.

You click Call, they pick up in India, Brazil, or Poland. Between those two moments, a lot happens — here’s the whole trip.

Your browser

Your voice becomes encrypted audio packets in Chrome, Safari, or Firefox — using a standard called WebRTC that all modern browsers speak.

The internet

Those packets travel over Wi-Fi, mobile data, or a wired connection — whichever way your device is online right now.

PopTox servers

Our servers pick up your call, look up which country the number belongs to, and hand it off to the right telecom partner.

Local carrier

A regular phone company in the destination country — the kind that runs the cell towers — takes the call the last leg to the number you dialed.

Their phone rings

A regular mobile phone or landline. To the person picking up, it looks and sounds exactly like any other incoming call.

In plain English: your browser is doing the work a phone would normally do. It captures your voice, sends it over the internet to us, and we hand it to a real phone company in the destination country that dials the number for you. The person on the other end has a normal phone experience — they don’t even need to know PopTox exists.
